im already sick of this car

ok so after searching for this and finding nothing of substance, ill ask a question. i have a 93 se-r, the problem is that when the engine is cold
it either bogs down or does nothing, when i come to a stop for the first time
it always sputters and dies. once the car warms up and i take it on the highway it feels like a geo metro (NO POWER). ive reached my wits end with
this car, if i cant figure it out its going to the junk pile

Re: im already sick of this car

If you're going to throw it on the junk pile I'll take it!

Seriously though, have you checked for a vacuum leak? The brakes need a good vacuum and if that is when it sputters and dies that could be a possibility.

Anyone else have a similar problem that can chime in?

Re: im already sick of this car

The first thing you should to do is go to www.se-r.net and look in the maintenance and common problem areas. Follow the steps listed there and your problem will be solved.

Re: im already sick of this car

Could be your AAC/IACV. A lot of SR20's have a problem with the AAC Valve sticking when the engine is cold, causing hesitation, stalling, and overall poor performance until the motor is warm.

Search for "cold idle fix" on SE-R.net. Without the ""

Re: im already sick of this car

Change your fuel filter also. It does wonders, especially if you have no power after its warm in the upper rpm's.

do everything that thread talkes about.

your timing may be off aswell, or the knock sensor is retarding the time when you get down on it because you have vacume lines off or somthing just isnt right.

give the engine a little tlc and some brain power and it will love you for life.

Re: im already sick of this car

If you don't want it I'll take it off your hands. NO sense in throwing a classic into the junk pile.
