axles headache

I just install my driver side axle two day ago had it check at the shop where I work at cause off vibration from the driveline was told the axle was bad the outter joint was moving back and fourth I was told it was because the car was lower.. My car is not as low as some off my friends b13 and they don't have this problem ... Any advise would be great I plan on replacing the axle in a day or two but is this normal to haave a defective axle and does the outter joint suppose to move back annd fourth... Thanx in advance Louis..

Yes, I believe you can move the outer jiont in and out.
That is totally normal. On the other hand I had a axle one time that was out of balance and gave me a moderate vibration up front.
Have you rotated your tires to eliminate the possibility of your wheels and tires being out of balance?

I had this same issue, when I went in for an alignment last month... had my passanger axle rebuilt and did everything else myself. The alignment shop said that my left front wheel bearing was going out and that I would need a new one. I thought for a few minutes and then asked them to check my axle nut.

note to self.... always re-torque your axle nuts after driving for a few days

I don't know if this is your same situation or not, but you might want to check. Good luck!
