how to remove tar paper with out chemicals

well i found only info on removing the tar with chemicals. so heres how to do it with out

Tools:
butter knife
hammer or pliers(something to hit butter knife)
drill
3-4 in wire brush attachment for drill
sand paper
spray paint

so what you do take the butter knife and use as a chisle bassically and get underneath the sheet and just chip away at it.

keep chipping away until its all up

when its all up youll have little remnants of the tar this is when you use the drill with wire brush attachment

just brush up the tar till clean, then sand it down to make a rough surface for painting

paint

i removed a brakcet als when i did this i just took pliers pryed up and down to get the brackt off then i ground down the rivets and painted over it heres the pics

Re: how to remove tar paper with out chemicals

I've used dry ice on a 10 sec. RX-7 to strip the tar. Hard part was getting into very curved areas... would have to break up the chunk of ice and let it sit longer. Worked very well, most of the big flat areas came up in large pieces. From the back of the front seat to the rear tail lights we ended up shaving 6-8lbs.

What does your car weigh now without the tar, interior, or dash components?
