no you dont.... if u take it out you wont pass emissions but your car might run a bit better *** if egr is messed up, it messes up your idle and all this other crap lol but you wont gain hp or anything
i did a search for EGR and 500 it show 500 thread, when i search for blocking EGR only two thread shown with no info on what im asking....so thats why i post...if you know the tread please search for it and post it for me, maybe im not using the right term.
as for emission, i just pass my smog check last week. Got two years to run my car. Not only that, my EGR is kind of old so i figure i take it out so it wont be used up and use it again when smog time comes around. Thats why i was wondering if it will affect my performance in anyway.....
if someone can post pics of the egr crap removed with the block plates that will be cool because i removed the aiv crap but was not sure about the egr.

Yan try to track down a JDM manifold, it already has the EGR stuff eliminated. here's a comparison pic of the US and JDM manifolds

I removed the EGR system on my 200 and the amount of vacuum hoses removed was worth it for me. I can't pass emisions anyway, so I didn't need the EGR, and it was part of my quest to solve my idle problems (still working on those). I did not notice any performance increase or decrease at all. If you still have to pass emisions I'd leave all that stuff alone.
i already wasted 10 bucks buying a header plug for my hotshot header and block off the egr hole to the throttle body, so if there is no loss of power, ill just leave it the way it is. Plus when i comes time to smog i have to put back my stock header anyway so i can change everything at once, its pretty simple..
one more question...do i need to plug anything else besides the header and the throttle hole??
u gotta run hoses to diff places too.. dropped89 had the diagram.. i think i got it at home, but yeah im blocking off egr when i go turbo so when i need emissions i can go back to stock in no time
when i get home i will show you the diagram adam... it took me a while to figure it out but then when it hit me i was like wtf that was soo easy
under the TB there is this thing with like 3 or 4 nipples and those run to different spots.. i will tell you later when i get home, you have AIM i can just tell you there
Your car will feel 'peppy er'. Cause it won't have that laggy EGR sh*t on it. So slight you probably won't even notice it. An you might gain some HP by removing it.
Cause I dont' know how a US SR20DE makes 140hp and 133tq, but the JDM SR20DE (champange valve cover) makes 150hp and 133tq.
The only reason I can think of the power gain is because there is no restriction or less restriction, because of it having no EGR. I also removed my AIV stuff.
