So heres the deal.... my car was alive, but running rough. I diagnosed the problem to be bad lifters, so i replaced them by the usual process (taking valve cover off, distributor out, cams out, rocker arms, then lifters), put everything back together the way its supposed to go in and then i went to start the car, and i got no spark!? I pulled a plug to see for sure and there was nothing. I tested the wire from the coil to the dist, no spark.. So replaced the coil, still no spark. Theres some kind of power transistor that is between the ecu and the coil, so i replaced that, no spark still. I checked all of my fuses, they were all good. I don't know what else to do. I think maybe a wire shorted out between my ecu and the power transistor? Also the ecu is throwing two codes, one for the transistor and one for the cam angle sensor in the distributor. I don't want to jump into messing with the ecu wiring so could somebody whose good with this stuff help me out?
i posted this on a different forum and got this response:
well if the ecu is showing a cam angle sensor code, that could be the no spark problem...
if the ecu doesnt see th motor turing over then it wont spark.
is the cam angle sensor hooked up and working properly?you said you replaced your lifters, is the timing right on the motor?
----------
does this sound right? or do you think its wiring?
Thanks,
Zack
