Best place to route relocated battery cables

What's the best way to route remote battery cables for relocating the battery behind the rear passenger seat in an NX?

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

I'd imagine that you'd just run it through the firewall and then below your door sill covers to the back seat.

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

i can tell you what NOT to do... my buddy ran the battery cable under the car and drilled a hole in the trunk, battery was mounted down well in the trunk, it was clean and seemed a good ideal, but he did it on the right side where everyone else did and on the right side there is the exhaust pipe and muffler...which are very hot after a couple minute of driving. if you get the picture his wires melted and exposed the live wire and grounded his car. i was laughing so hard when he told me but luckly it just busted his main fuse!

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

There should be a plastic shield under the car on the driver's side for the brake lines. Just run it through there up to the motor.

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

Any really good places in the firewall, that could be easily accessed and sealed?

I thought about running them underneath, but I was concerned about road trash, tire treads, abrasion, etc. It would be really nice to run them down a unibody frame tunnel or something close. I definitely won't strap them to the exhaust pipe.............

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

I have done this twice now, I run it through the firewall below the AC box and along the center channel. It goes under the back seat and over the gas tank access panel. I then ran my RCA cables and stuff along the doors keeping them away from the power cable. That has worked great so far in preventing noise int he stereo.

Did you use an existing hole our drill new one(s)? How did you seal it?

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

I used the hole that is there for the drain for the AC box. But, you could easily drill a hole with a stepper bit and use a grommet to seal it shut.

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

Some people use the hole that your speedo cable goes through.

Re: Best place to route relocated battery cables

Look under the dash all the way to the left there is a big grommet you can run oawg through. It comes out above the wheel in the inner splash shield.
