What does your VOLT gauge read?

Like the title reads:

a) what does your VOLT gauge read
b) where did you connect it to (battery, cigarette lighter, alternator)

Just curious. Mine is connected to the battery and it points between 12V and 13v (leaning more towards 13).

Re: What does your VOLT gauge read?

Well, mine was stock (1992 Sunny 2.0GTi, N/A SR20DE, N14 chassis).

When engine is OFF it shows just below 12. When idling it shows close to 14. Faster revs, 14.5 or something.

Re: What does your VOLT gauge read?

Last two posts were prime examples of HOW one should answer a question psoted and CONTRIBUTE usefulll info to the forum.

Lat post was a prime example on how much attention we should be paying to any gauge we have in our car.

2 gauges, both by APEXi (one reputable company), both reading what the ECU reads (the same value) AFTER the sensors have translated the actual measured physical parameter (battery voltage) in ONE voltage.

Cold start in the morning at idle is shown with a .6V difference!!!! This is close to 5%!!!

Re: What does your VOLT gauge read?

I always found that pretty weird, that there was such a difference. I wonder if anyone else has that issue...

Re: What does your VOLT gauge read?

well i was sayin if he's using a gauge with a needle on it then if its pointing between 12-13 but closer to 13 would be saying his battery is fully charged. now i can also tell you that with my hks type1 i also get voltages very similar/same as above.

i take my voltage from the ignition switch after the ecu
