Overheating Problem

I was driving yesterday and my upper radiator hose blew out. The whole time I was driving which wasnt long, I had the heat on high and it was blowing cold air and the temp gauge just keep rising. I had checked the temp before of the rad with a temp probe and it didnt go over 200 degrees. Im wondering if this is my heater core?

Re: Overheating Problem

Blew out as in it just came off. Or did it actually wind up with a hole in it?

Re: Overheating Problem

the hose blew apart like there was too much pressure going thru it and also my reservoir tank was very close to the top maybe an inch or two below the top.

Re: Overheating Problem

could be
1. bad t-stat stuck shut causing high psi
2. bad water pump
3. bad radiator/cold spots
4. could be the heater core?

Well for starters, you'll want to install the thermostat. Your engine will never reach proper operating temps without it.

Also, bypassing the heater core will make you motor run hotter. ask me how I know.

I say you should replace you radiator and heater hoses. You radiator hose might have been just old.
Also, if you temp sending units, ECU and Temp gage, are old, replace them too.
When the OEM temp sending units get old they can read colder than the engine is actually running.Ask me how I know.
