I was driving my B14 the other day and it's had a little bit of a tapping sound(like you could hear one of the cylinders) Anyway, all of a sudden it sounded like my exhaust system had completely let loose. Again, thought it was a bad cat. that I've been getting around to replacing. Went home, not in the exhaust system. I put headers on it a couple weeks ago so I double checked everything there....nothing. So I'm 100% sure it's no in the exhaust system. When I lay under the car with it running I can hear the noise coming from the back of the engine???? There isn't anything back there that would be making a sound like that that I can tell. So I figured maybe it could be a head gasket. That's the only thing I can come up with. But there's no oil, no fuel, nothing on the back of the engine and I can't feel anything coming from in between the head and block. But the sound is definitely coming from back there and it definitely sounds like a bad exhaust system, but again, exhaust system is in great shape. WTF???
