43 to 45 psi of gas in idle

My car has the tipical problem of the sr20's. Jumpy idle.

But my car also smells fuel pretty much from the exhaust, and today I saw on the fuel pressure gauge that while idling the psi was around 43 to 45(I have S4) and the cars stalls pretty bad while it's cold. Is that FP ok or it's too high??

Sh*t I'm getting really tired of this problem, yesterday I almost hit another car while stopping because the rpm's drop too much and the brake pedal gets hard like when the car is turned off.

Please some help!!

Are you sure you don't have a vacuum leak somewhere?

Re: 43 to 45 psi of gas in idle

look at your fuel pressure regualtor, if your using an adjustable check to make sure its not leaking, and if your still using the OEM nissan one make sure that its not leaking as well, (this happened on one of my friends turbo 300zx, it was running so rich and it ended up being the fuel dampaner was leaking and was sucking fuel via the vaccum line)

Re: 43 to 45 psi of gas in idle

Your fuel pressure should be 43-44psi when there is no vacuum attached to the FPR.

My friend, I already told you, somebody "le hizo sabotage" to your car. ¿He dicho nombre yo?

Just kidding, try to find another FPR. Check for a vacuum leak, you told me that you can hear like a vacuum noise on you car. Try to verify from where it come from.

Re: 43 to 45 psi of gas in idle

My car has the stock fuel pump. And when I disconnect the vacuum line the psi goes to 45.

Yes I hear some kind of leak from the area below the intake.
But the idle problem began right after changing the clutch, maybe in the process of removing the tranny a line may have been unplugged. I'll try to get as far as I can go to find the leak. But for now I'm very cranky

Thanks anyways

Re: 43 to 45 psi of gas in idle

Just to let you guys know that I finally found my problem.
It was a vacuum line that goes to the canister below the brake pump.

*** canister has two, one thinner than the other, the large one was the one disconnected. I plugged it in and problem solved, Now I have a really steady idle

Thankss for everything!
