Wont go into Timing Mode - Something just clicks, clicks

When I unplug the tps the engine revs up to like 2,000rpm and something on the engine goes click, click, click??? Its always worked fine before?? Ive tried using the help me faq's with no help...

Have you checked if any of the spark plug wires are loose on the distributor? I think that might be it, hope this helps.

the rpms rise on thier own when you unplug the tps? hmm....

It just revs up from idle to about 2,000. You can hear something on the passanger side of the engine go: click, click, click (LOUD), for about 10 seconds then just statys reving @ 2,000.

Also while that thing is clicking , it sounds like the maf is cutting in and out. it makes that sucktion noise.

what the hell is going on..

sounds like a huge vacume leak.. my engine did that when i did a swap when i disconnected the TPS and i found a huge vacume leak.. fixed it and no longer does it..
