Distributor rotor question

Hey folks,

I was working on a regular maintance tune-up today, and when I was going to change the distributor rotor, I noticed I had the wrong one. It just won't fit on the distributor shaft. I bought all my tune up parts from Courtesy Nissan, and my local Nissan Dealership does not have one in stock. I will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday.

My question is, what are the consequences of running on a used rotor head? I was thinking of re-using the old one, until I can get a new one, which won't be until Monday or Tuesday.

Sorry it's my only car

Thanks everyone!

Here is the part number of the rotor head Courtesy Nissan sent me:

22157-0M513

Was it running fine befor you took it off? If so i don't see any reason why it shouldn't last another day or two..?

Well I thought I'd post this here. I just purchased cap & rotor at my local Nissan dealer Friday for my '96 G20. The rotor part# I gave to them was 22157-46N12. They proceeded to tell me that part #22157-M513 superceded it. Got home and it was too small. Would not fit on the distributor shaft for anything. I went back and we hashed through the PC for about 15 minutes, I even gave them my VIN#, no luck. So the guy just pulls a rotor off the shelf and says, "It doesn't look like this one does it?" and I say, "Yes, it looks exactly like that one". The new part # apparently was coded incorrectly in the Nissan FAST which is causing online sites to also be wrong.

So I now have rotor part #22157-0M512 and it is an exact match for the orignal part # 22157-46N12. Which makes perfect Nissan sense. They both end in "12".
