Starting Problem

Well the motor is not an SR20 but I think it might still be able to be answered and I think this would be the place to post it. Anyways, soemone at my work drives the old crappy car and said it will start sometime but then liek a half hour later it wont start and just stutters and wont start. They had the battery and alternator checked, and it still does it. Does anybody know what else it could be? I thought either bad wireing, distributor, spark plugs (probably not), or Starter. Anything else that could be the problem or does anyone think they know what it is? Thanks alot.

Sounds like a bad starter, IMO. Easy way to check this is to get a small hammer (or something to tap with) and when the car doesn't want to turn over, tap the starter...better to have two people - one to tap the other to turn the key.

Good luck.
