I've had a new clutch for the Sentra for about 6 months now, and I finally started to install it last night. My goal was to stop at 9:00 no matter where I was in taking the transmission off the car. I started at 7:00 and cleaned up the garage for a few minutes so I wouldn't have junk and car parts all over the place. At 8:59, the transmission was on the ground.

I did continue working until 9:30, because I wanted to open the transmission up and see if the 1st gear syncros were worn out. They didn't show any signs of being damaged. The reason I checked them out, is because I have trouble getting the car into 1st gear if the car is moving. If I put the car in neutral, clutch out, clutch in, it goes right into gear. Now I'm thinking it could be the fact that the case half is from another transmission. When I put the current transmission together, I couldn't remove the reverse switch, so I used the case half from one transmission, with the bellhousing from another. The service manual says that the case halves are different thicknesses to shim the gears. The flywheel and pressure plate also had hot spots on them, so its either from me slipping the clutch, or the clutch wasn't adjusted correct. The clutch not disengaing could be why its hard to get into 1st gear. Thoughts? Here are some of the pics :
