Looking to buy SR20DE and need advice please

HI All,

I have a 100nx that is currently a 1.6 litre however I blew the gearbox up last Sunday so it now has nothing under the bonnet.

I am going to fo the obviouse 2.0 Litrer conversion.

I have the option of buying a Primera 2.0 SLX locally however just thoguht I would ask for some advice.

The engine does sound a little bit cammy (on the exhaust cam probably) and has done 100K miles, however it does not look it to bad condition (no obviously oil leeks etc)

Does the SR20DE suffer from anything like oil ways getting blocked to the top of the engine that could cause major problems or anything else that could be a big problem to me later on.

I suspect that it is probably just in need of the valve clearances being set but thoguhut I would ask if any has any advice.

(I believe it to be engine style that has the rockers as can only see one bif cam lobe when looking through oil filler hole)

Thanks in advance,

Ian

the older 91-94ish G20s (primeras across the pond), had some small oil tubes taht would get clogged. Plus, they were generally mated to automatic transmissions, so they never got revved high.

100k miles should be no problem at all. I'd do a compression check first though. And if you have the chance, maybe take off the valve cover to see how things look.

Oh yeah, the valves shouldn't need any adjusting. hydraulic lash adjusters/self adjusting.

Thanks, I think I will just bite the bullet and buy this one anyway. It is a 1992 matted to a manual gearbox (don't like automatics personally)

If these small oil ways are blocked i guess it is possible to unblock them???
