Voltage problem

I'm having a voltage problem with my classic, first off let me say that i have replaced the battery about 4 months ago with optima red top, the altenator has been removed and tested, i replaced the main ground on the block to frame and added a ground system, also installed a new ground along with the existing ground from the altenator body to frame. I have a apexi turbo timer and it displays voltage.

When the car is warming up the car is fine and the voltage is about 13.8-14.1. As soon as it warms up the voltage drops to about 13.1-13.5. Now at night with the HID's and heat on the voltage drops to the 12.1-12.5 area at stops and the idles just sucks(72lb program). When coming to a stop the car wants and sometimes die's due to this problem.

Now my ?? is has anyone had any of the main power wires go bad or something and cause this?? Has anyone had an altenator tested good but actually not be??? The highest the voltage gets is 14.2, normally it sits around 13.8. The idle likes to be at 13.5 for a good smooth idle.

Please any help would be appriciated. Thanks in advance!!

Tom

tom, when you pulled the alternator and tested it was it warm? i have seen a couple of alternators that only fail when warmed up. i would try another alt. and see if your results change
