bumpstops

ok i just put in a set of tein s.tech lowering springs in to my 98 sentra se , they drop the front 2.4 inches and the rear 1.1 to fill in that ugly fender gap in the front , well the backs are fine thay have plenty of travel , well the fronts are riding on the bumpstops , i know the bumpstops were not cut and they need to be so i need to know where they are , are they actually on the piston of the strut ? or somewhere else if so do i have to take the suspension out of the car again to cut them , if anyone could provide some pics or any info i would really apreciate it , i'm sorry for such a retarted question , this is the first time i ever lowed a car i owned so i'm not sure about it since i never screwed with the suspension

It's a doughnut around the piston of the shock.

There are 2 ways to increase the travel of the shocks:

1° Cut the bumpstops not more than 30% of their total lenght &

2° Get Koni bumpstops from Mike Saiki, Motivational Engineering, This is my choice, mmm well was & will be, because I need to pick them up as long as many other parts waiting for me at my Mailing Address at McAllen.

I wish this helps you.

If you need help cutting bumpstops, or finding bumpstops, post & I'll look for some links.

Take a look at here: http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/...ber04/b14susp/ it was maded by a SR20Forum member

Take a look at the above link & also at Kojima's Garage Suspension section: http://www.sentra.net/tech/garage/

I guess at NPM, 200sx GA16turbo proyect there's also some info about cutting bumpstops.

Sometimes bumpstops came in one piece with dust covers, that's why it's a little bit difficult to identify them as a separate part, I'm 80% shure (from FSM) that's OEM case.

I just put koni bumpstops on my fronts (still need to do the rears though). It's a night and day difference though!
