definitely do not let your tranny drain on its own. Eventually the bearings in the transmission will get damaged, and you'll get whirring/clanky noises from the transmission. replacing the bearings on the input shaft is probably more complicated, messy, and more difficult than simply changing axle seals (which are probably leaking in your case). I had input shaft bearing problems and spent a good $800+ to have it fixed at a shop. I'm probably one of the only few people on the site who's actually had this problem (and discussed it in the forums).
The parts you need would be the driver and passenger side axle seals. the passenger side seal should be real easy to do with another person's help. Just make sure you have an impact gun and a 32mm socket (IIRC) for the axle nuts. The driver's side may be a little harder to remove because of the snap ring, but don't worry too much about it--again, another person to help you out will really speed things up. Have a pry bar handy for the driver's side axle. Installing the seals is simple--just have a rubber mallet handy, and lightly tap the seals into place until all sides are flush.
