Trans leak question with pics

After installing my clutch, I noticed Ive been leaking a little gear oil constantly. One known problem is the pass side axle, when I plan to re-install (this time with a tool) but also, I think the gear selector rod place is leaking too:

Closer shot:

The place where the accordian boot thing is, seems to be leaking quite a bit, and I am wondering what the part number for the seal there is called (or if there is a seal there), also how hard would it be to replace? Im not down with droppin the transmission all over again... last time it pinched my hand.

Thanks for any helps

Conan

Striking rod Oil Seal - Pt# 30401-G - $6.61

Check Nissan Courtesy Parts. The Website shows the box break down and all of the parts, part numbers and prices.

Their PT# are confusing though, I think the numbers they show are actually Stock Numbers.

That's a pain in the but to change. You have to drop the transmission and break the case. Dissassemble the shifting linkages and forks, knock out the roll pins and pull the Striking Rod.
There are actually two parts to the seal if I remember correctly, the hard flared piece on the outside and the oil seal itself.

May be worth just buying a new trans in a breakers yard just to save the pain if you DIY. I'm sure the labor on that would be more than a new (used) one.

Good luck.

I had that seal leaking on mine and it wasn't bad to do. Pull the accordian boot back and there is a roll pin that goes through holding it together. Take a punch and pop the roll pin out. Then just pop the seal out. Not bad to do.

You are right. Never noticed the two parts on the exploded drawing. Had this picture of a big ring of welding in my head.

Depens on the year , some can be gotten by just a roll puin , but most are not , you have to pop the cases ...
