Need Help With Ticking??.....

Ok I have a ticking noise coiming from my engine, that I thought sounded like a bad lifter. So We replaced all the lifters with new Nissan ones, And while in there replaced valve springs as well, all new from Nissan. Set everything back up back to spec and start it up and the Damn noise is still there. The noise goes away after 3000 rpm's in any gear so I thought it was a lifter and after 3Krpms it built up enough pressure to stop making noise, well that apparently isn't it. Anyone have any idea on what to check out next? TIA.

Your talking about the timing chain tensioner right?
Well I hope not cause this motor only has 1500 miles on it I just had it rebuilt, and the only thing I did not replace with brand new stuff was the lifters and the springs, until now. But I will definately check it out.

might want to do a power balance test, and an injector balance test to see if it's not a loud injector or piston slap/cylinder noise.

I'm no mechanic like some of these guys but those injectors can be pretty loud. The noise could have "gone away" just because going past 3k raised the frequency to where you can't hear it. I know mine were pretty loud when an injector went out on me and then I replaced them and much quieter.

Get close to the injectors and check to see I think that it is your injectors cause mine does the same.

get a long screwdriver or pry bar and put the metal end to each injector and put your ear to the handle, and listen up. i'd bet it's your injectors

Sounds like the start of rod knock.... Wait till it gets louder and you'll know what it is... Mine did the same thing at first... but it just got worse.

No, We set up all new lifters on the plate, checked the timing chain & guides, all seems o.k. but I still have the noise . Car runs strong as hell like normal, so I guess I'll just drive it. injectors are o.k. too. And BTW its definately not rod knock or a bearing.

I say first look at t\what could be causing all those problems....Like some people said rod bearing....yea it could be that *** i had the same problem and i found out the hard way....well i say maybe check oil pressure just to see...there might be some clearance in your bearing-to-journal.

i have a messed up tranny and at idle it makes noise and when i tap the gas it makes the noise real quick and goes away...i have a noise like what u r saying around 3000 rpms and it goes away before and after 3000 rpms. I run the car hard and it has good oil pressure and runs strong....Also, it seems to do it in 1st and 2nd gear.....i cant hear it in the rest of them.

i think yours is more of a throw out bearing noise because it is there at idle.
