VE related cam switching question (sorta)

Hey,

Maybe someone can lend some insight. This isnt exactly a neo vvl question, but its a similar swap to a VE in a sentra and i trust the technical knowledge on this board more than a lot of other places. I did a VE swap into my sentra, i am using the JWT ECU and MSD cam switching method to engage the cams. THis seems to work with no problem. So in a related note, my friend is researching a celica GT-S motor swap for his Toyota MR2 spyder. I figure it is similar considering he is going from a car that doesnt have Variable cams to one that does. The GTS ECU is made for a car with manual transmission and will control the cams, however... the GTS cam switch point is set super high such that there is a jump of 20+ ft-lbs of torque in about a 500rpm range. This can be a little hard to control, especially in a corner. Are any of you guys familiar with the Toyota fuel maps and cam switching methods... in other words, rather than tricking it with an expensive power FC, would it be possible to just rig an RPM switch similar to my car in order to switch his cams at a more reasonable rpm and flatten out the torque curve. Are the sensors on the toyota such that the MAF, o2, TPS etc... readings will compensate or will it choose the wrong map and run poorly. I understand this is toyota so you guys may not know the system... but i figure a lot of you guys work on all kinds of different cars and the spyder forum has been no help. thanks. here is the link to the dyno so you can see what i mean.
