My JWT ECU Impressions

I finished installing my ECU which is programmed for bored DE MAF, VE Injectors, EGR temp resistor, and of course 7200 redline. I no longer have a check engine light and went through emmisions without a problem.

The car drives much smoother than before with a leaned out DE ECU. Transition from throttle to off throttle is vastly improved, no more bucking. The engine seems to rev faster and smoother. It even sounds a little different to me its weird. It sounds a little meaner or throatier. Overall I am very very happy with it. I hope to dyno again in the next couple of weeks to get the fuel pressure and timming set just right and see what gains if any the JWT ECU gives.

Why would you have a 7200 RPM rev limit?

I can't wait for my ecu as well. The DE edu works OK but I don't want to VVL until I have that ecu. I had my redline set at 8000 so I don't have to pay $100 for a reprogram.

JWT Claims 7200 Rev limit is needed with stock SR20VE cams due to the ramps on the SR20VE cams and for the SR16 cams you can rev to 8k no problem because the change in the ramps

This 7200 RPM is a $100 money getter. When I order JWT comp I order them without a 8000 RPM rev limiter or in some customers case I go for no rev limiter.

If you have a 8000 rpm rev limit with stock Sr30VE cams there will be no problems.

Ya I had gotten one of the first SR20VE ECU's where the guy actually had a daughter board trigger the cams. my Rev limit was 8k I rev mine to 8k everyday for like 6 months until some bitch pulled out in front of me with no insurance now it dosen't rev....the day I got my AEBS header in the mail the day my car got in a wreck ironic?

You got cheated with the 7200 rev limiter. I also had the same impressions as you had, and I noticed the different sound as well. The dyno showed a peak hp gain of 5hp and a little more throughout the powerband.

I asked for an ECU with a 8K rev limit and they said they wouldn't do it due to the possibility of floating a valve. I told them I was planning on buying their cams when they came out and I didn't want to resend my ECU out to be reprogrammed. It didn't matter as they would not budge on the redline.

I forgot to mention, the above gains were from a sr20ve ecu. Also the floating valve thing is bs. I set my rev limiter at 7800 for everyday driving and have had 0 issues. It has also had multiple dyno runs to the limiter.

I ordered mine 3 weeks ago for the 8k redline, and all I had to do was accept the verbal disclaimer he gave me over the phone + the same story he gave you.

I got my ECU back in about 2 weeks. The person on the phone with me was very adament about the lower redline. It doesn't really bother me as the car is my daily and I don't beat on it much.

Was this a chip change that you got done in 2 weeks or was it a complete reprogrammed ECU.

It was a reprogram, the comp originally had the basic POP program.

I was told the same thing. I didn't argue for a higher redline though because I figured I'd just get it done after the cams come out and possibly a new program to go with it.

It is about $600 (US dollars) IIRC for the re-program, but you have to send them a stock ECU, or pay a "core charge"(about $500??) where they will send you a re-programmed ECU and you send them your stock ECU later to get the core charge refunded. For us in Aus and NZ it becomes very expensive - US$600 for the re-program + freight both ways. Better off with a piggy back ECU such as e-manage to adjust your fuel/ignition maps.

Buy a used ecu in the states and beg them to mail it to JWT directly. Jwt could reprogram it and then mail it to you. You can find a stock ecu in the states for about $50.

^ ^ ^ Looks like madandy has a factory VE powered Primera, might not be easy to find a compatible USDM ECU?? Not sure on that, just guessing....
