Pistons 20v = 16ve?

Simple question
Does is the 20v piston the same as the 16ve piston? I know they offer the same CR.

No they are not.

SR16VE and SR16VE N1 share the same piston

SR20VE piston is close to a 9.5 to 1 piston but with valve notches

SR20VE 20V has valve notches and is almost a flat top

If you ran SR16VE pistons in a SR20VE the compression would be up at about 14 to 1.

Compression has to do with a few diffrent factors.

1 crank size
2 pistons Size
3 Piston volume example Dish, flat top and dome.

So just because the 20V and SR16VE have the same compression, they have the same combustion chamber volume, they do not have the same crank size and they have diffrent piston volumes.

Chris,

please, since you are dissasemblying it, measure it. Take pics with a ruler on the head so dimensions are clear. And also measure as much as you can of the intake manifold and intake ports up to the valve seat (rough handmade drawings with approximate dimensions maybe?) and exhaust ports.

The VE maf maxes out at 250WHP . I hit 4.8V at 223WHP on my VE,so guess im guessing 240 -250 give or take will max it out. This is on my car and when i dynoed my car .Injectors are 92% at 223WHP which should max out at 240-250WHP also.So a bolt on VE with cams.Ve maf and injectors are fine. For a built Ve motor you need cobra maf or Z32 and bigger injectors.

A 95-98 Maxima MAF is best for the a built VE in my opinion. You always want to run a MAF that will acomodate your HP needs without having to large of a voltage spread.

pin location has something to do with CR as well.

you could just run 2000SE roller pistons. they have smaller ring lands, but i dont think this will be an issue unless you want to turbo/BIG nitrous shot it. should be ~10.8:1.

some 10:1 SR20DE primera pistons will net ~11:1.

or, say to hell with it and run the 87mm Z32 NA pistons. should be about 12:1.

Well you want the edge of the piston to get as close as you can safely get to the flat edge of the head. The gap you can run there depends upon the stretch in the conrod from BDC to TDC. Then the total voulume of the head at TDC is added to the swept vulume and that is divided by the head volume. EG 46cc total tdc volume & 500 swept = (500+46)/46 = 11.87 : 1

Are you using metric socket type allen tools or a hand held allen wrench.

So would there be any problems with running the SR16 pistons in the SR20VE (assuming of course you are using a suitably high octane fuel)? Would it be a simple swap over affair?

Just wondering
