SR20VE identification.

If the NEOVVL lable has been removed from the cam cover, what other way are there of telling if the engine is a VE or a DE.

(Pics with the explination would be a help.)

Look for the cam solenoids behind the distributor.

Pop the oil cap on the rocker cover and look at the camshaft...VVL has three lobes per side per cylinder, two will be easily visable visible, one small then middle one big then another small lobe to the other side of the big lobe

The casting number on the VE block is 53c and the DE is 53j, I believe.

IIRC (since I've never seen one in persone) the oil filter is on the back, like a 2000+ roller motors, and there is no oil catch can on the front of the motor. I still think the solenoids would be the easiest to spot.

Can someone post up a clear pic of the cam solenoids. In all the pics I've got the HT leads are in the way.

Gold things. The valve cover is also alittle taller and more square on the inside.
