Just got my VE running tonight. VE everything (MAF, ECU, injectors, etc)except for the distributor--couldn't figure out the wiring. I suppose I could've done some trial and error, but that didn't sound like fun. I cut the DE dist and am running it for the weekend, but Monday I want to hook up the VE distributor (yes, I know it is harder that way).
I have seen the directions in the FAQ for a B14, but the B13, at least the hi-port B13, is different.
The VE dist has an 8 wire plug. The DE has 4-2-2, for a total of 8 wires.
VE: Black, Green, thin White/red, thick White/red, Blue, Black/white, Brown/white--that is 7, but that is all I wrote down, and the VE dist is at my mechanics. Obviously there should be 8.
DE: Yellow, Orange, Blue, Black (DE dist plug), Yellow/green (used twice), Black, and White (external resistor), Black/red.
I have pinouts I tried matching, but it is for a Primera, which was probably a low-port engine. I'm sure I can't be the only person in the US to want to run a VE dist in their high-port B13.
Well, beyond a handful of other reasons, I have one dist with 178k miles (DE), and one with 26k miles.
I've seen others say they are running the VE dist, but they never say what wiring combination is. It can't be that hard to figure out. Well, I guess it can.

Dont run the VE dist. If you need tune up parts for it, you will be waiting for a long time to get them.

I'm not concerned about tune-up parts--I can buy 2 or 3 sets of wires, caps, etc at a time. I do want to run the OEM VE setup, and have seen others use it in a B14, but not a B13. I will eventually figure it out.
"There are eight wires coming from the VE distributor. Starting at the top left (when looking from the radiator) and going down 1-4, then moving to the top right and going down again for 5-8.
1. Green. Goes to a green with yellow stripe. There was another green with yellow stripe (on the car, not the dist.) that was cut off that I did not trace.
2. White with red stripe. Goes to black with red stripe. There were two red wires tapped into this one which I believe go to the MSD activation switches.
3. Black with white strip. Goes to black.
4. Brown (or tan) with white stripe. Goes to white.
5. Black. Goes to black.
6. White with red stripe. Goes to Orange with a (grey? blue? black?) stripe.
7. Black with white stripe. Goes to yellow.
8. Blue. Goes to blue."
Hello Jacen, Did you get this sorted? I'm running the VE Distributor for the same reasons you want to. It took 2 attempts to figure it out, but it has run faultlessly for 1 year now. I believe that it's a higher precision device than the older DE mechanical one. I have some info if you still need it:

The VE 8 wire plug is as follows. (The above wiring info is a little off)
"There are eight wires coming from the VE distributor. Starting at the top left (when looking from the radiator) and going down 1-4, then moving to the top right and going down again for 5-8."
1. Green
2. White/Red Stripe (thick wire)
3. Black/White Stripe
4. Brown/White Stripe
5. Black
6. White/Red Stripe (thin wire) **forms a Y down the harness**
7. Black/White Stripe
8. Blue
Yes, using the above color combination, I am now running VE everything: ECU, MAF, distributor, even down to the VE airbox and stock VE Nissan air filter.

Thanks Jacen.
I dont think so, because Black with white stripes goes to ECU 31/40 and Blue goes to ECU 22/30. So it is in any case in other forums. Blue goes to yellow and black with stripes goes to blue. Correct me if it is wrong.
