4500-5000 RPM...anywhere in that range is common.

The dyno showed a flat spot for me at 4600-5000 RPM with cams switching at 5000 RPM. Moving the switch point to 4600 RPM removed the flat spot. Switch point has no effect on output at higher RPM or max output.

The shift point varies from set up to set up -- best to check on the dyno if you want to be sure.

I agree Bill. My VE seems more responsive at 4500 RPM than it does at 4700 and 4800.

It seems that the freer-flowing the exhaust, the lower the rpm to switch to the big lobes.

I have a 2.5 vrs exhaust with stock manifold and a hotshot secondary. do you think this exhaust is free flowing enoungh to have my cams at 4600 instead of 5k.

Here is a dyno sheet that shows a run with only the low cams compared to a run with switching to high cams at 4600 RPM. You can see the flat spot that I mentioned in an earlier post.

Jacen I believe your theory is correct. When I got my 3 inch exhaust, I did feel a bigger push after lowering the activation point from 4800 to 4550.
