ve won't start # 2....

Ok, just got everthing hooked up, but new engine won't start. I discovered it's not getting fuel (spark plugs are dry and so is fuel hose to fuel rail when I pulled it) but can't figure out why... put fuel pump fuse back in. and everything is hooked up correctly... it's turning over...

It was a very straightforward swap ve (blown) to ve (new) :-), so all the wiring was the same. swapped over the ***.. etc.. I'm sure there is some simple thing I overlooked ( I was low on fuel when I parked the car so I just put another gallon in the tank....

owwwww let me see if i can solve this.

No fuel...check this stuff:
-fuel pump fuse
-ground wires on the intake manifold (these ground the fuel pump)
-fuel lines reversed
-bad fuel pump

let me know if all that checks out

You sure you didn't mix up the fuel lines. Very common mistake. If you got it right...does the fuel pump prime with the ignition on?

Is the fuel pump even cutting on? you should hear it if you turn the ignition.

yes a killer storm is coming i hear it outside my window.

when u removed the lines to check them, did fuel spurt out some?? if it didnt then fuel isnt getting there. if the fuel is getting there, then the injectors arent firing.

Remove distributor from engine, but leave the harness plugged in.
Turn the key to the ON position.
rotate the distributor teeth, u should hear each injector fire (tick, tick, tick, tick).

This will soak the spark plugs, remove the spark plugs and check to see if they are soaked.

If you dont hear the tick tick, your distributor isnt talking to the ecu.
If you hear the tick tick, and dont have fuel on sparkplugs, ALL your injectors have somehow became clogged.

got it..... can you believe it there wasn't enough fuel in the gas tank. I put another gallon and that took care of it. Didn't think I left it that empty when I put it up on the stands....

But it running good, just reving high like crazy and the temp sensor doesn't seem to be working-- but that's all adjusting stuff.. I'll keep you guys posted.... Had to take a break to meet with a client...

More update: Changed the temp sensor (ve ones don't seem to work with my 92 de-- last one didn't work either). Had a small vac leak (fixed) and power steering belt is loose. Going to take care of that tomorrow and then do the timing.

Otherwise all is good. Got to finish putting on the axle bolts and front tires, and tighten up a few things, put splash guards back on and I'm ready to roll... Got a sr16ve ecu on the way too, plus an air/fuel guage.

It's much easier the second time around to do this...

I'll put some pics on my cardomain site tommorow-- I still haven't figured out how to post pics here from cardomain-- anyone who can walk me through this would be appreciated....
