Optimal Exhaust Diameter for an SR20VE?

Greetings all,

Knowledgable individuals such as Mike Kojima and Rob Cadle have often insisted that the stock exhaust diameter on the B13 SE-R is sufficient for the typical bolt-on SE-R. A bolt-on SR20VE, however, would be more comparable to a somewhat-built SR20DE. What would be the optimal exhaust diameter for a bolt-on SR20VE? Also, what is the exhaust diameter of the factory exhaust piping on an SR20VE-equipped Primera?
Thanks in advance...

For the amount of power that you would have with the VE, I would say that 2.5 inch would be the sweetspot for the engine.

for me personally, i am going to just put a better muffler on the stock piping, and be done with it. i hate the angry bee rasping noise associated with a lot of the 2.5" setups, so i am going to see how this works. plus, nice, sleeper, unpolished mufflers can be had for real cheap.

Steve, I think that you wil be giving up a lot of power by not changing out your exhaust. The stock B14 piping has a lot of necks in it! I would not worry a lot about noise if you do it the right way. Naji's Exhaust Check that out, just add 1/4 of an inch and you are set. If you want a really refined tone, you can use a Remus muffler, with George Roffe just loves.

Lots of ppl dont realise the key in getting a nice sound compared to a fart sound comes from 2 things :

Choice of muffler.

MANDREL BENDS (crush bends creat the fart sound)

I have a friend with the exact same setup as mine.

2.25" mid-pipe (no resonator)
Twin pipe, free flow muffler.

He has crush bends I have mandrel.
He had to put a resonator on cause he got 2 tickets from cops in 1 week.

Mine is slightly louder than stock.

My 2 cents.
