Wow, thats awesome. I didnt think there were any other trannys out there that would bolt up to our cars. I thought I remember Mike K saying something like that. All the axles and that crap will bolt right up? What kind of gearing does it have as compared to our cars? I have the 5th gear popout and i want to replace it, this seems like a nice option...

From Andreas:

Here are the Gear Ratios.

1st 3.33 14.785
2nd 1.96 8.658
3rd 1.33 5.905
4th .97 4.307
5th .75 3.333

Final Drive 4.44

There are 2 trans one is cable SE-R style that is just as strong as the SE-R 91-98 and one is Hydralic 2001 SE style this unit is stronger. I just sent one of the hydralic ones to JWT, they bought it from me. I do have the cable one in stock if you are interested. Call me for the price.

From Mike K himself...

It bolts right up to the engine but requires rewelding
of the mounts to fit in the car. The axles fit right
in though so it is a sort of easy conversion.

It is a much bigger Maxima size gearbox. We put it in
the SCC Disco potato car and so far no problems even
though this car has been flogged hard on a road course
and drag strips many times

Are these trannys stronger than the stock DE tranny? As in, can the gears handle boost better/longer than the DE tranny?

I dont recall the N1 tranny being any stronger. The reason people go for them is because of the close ratio.

The only SR tranny that I know is stronger is the 01 SE tranny. I believe its ~22% stronger, CMIIW.

Its a awfull thing when people give bad info. There are 2 N1 trans.

One looks like the 98-99 SE-SE-R trans with fins on the gear box. This is the early style box that come in the N15 cars. Yes the gear box is LSD. This gear box is quick ratio, it is a cable box like the 91-99 cars and is a direct bolt in. The axles fit right in also or you use your SE-R axles.

The later SR16VE VVL 175 HP motors came with the same gear ratio but this box is like the 2001 SE trans. This is the box that is 22% stronger. This box came out of the N16 cars. It is hydralic and to fit the axles in a 91-98 car there will be a little work. This box bolts right up to the SR20DE motor but to make it work right you will have to get the rear motor mount braket and also convert your car to a Hydralic setup.

What is also so funny is that the box in the Disco Potatoe is Hydalic, but none of the Hydralic boxes came on the N1. Yet everyone calls this box the N1 trans. This box came only on the regular SR16VE 175 HP motor that came in the N16 bodys. There were no N16 200 HP N1 cars. The N1 motor came in the B14 cars and in the N15 cars and all these cars are cable style like the 91-99 SE-R models. The cable box came on the N1 SR16VE 200 HP cars and also on the SR16VE 175 HP cars.

I hope this clears up the BULLsh*t.
