Last word is they are suspecting the ECU. But that is odd that 2 different cars would have ECU problems...

Why does the dyno chart say 175ish on the link?

Steve

Edit: The date is also from 9-22-2001

So I guess the RSX can Dyno anywhere from 146 all the way to 175. Quite the spread. I wonder how much horsepower the one I drove had. BTW SCC dyno'd theirs at 168hp and 122tq. That is what one would suspect. I feel for those two who have RSX's that only dyno in the 140's. That is real low. BTW put a deposit on a VE.

damn, Honda is really trying to emphasise VTEC switchover. there is a 15lb-ft increase at switchover, i thought these things had variable cam timing to help smooth out the transition? the way i see it, honda is trying to make i-VTEC feel like a shot of NO to make it seem faster than it really is. they are doing this with their VTEC equipped motorcycles too. same thing with the celica GT-S. seems like all these cars are losing power, i think they can benefit from a VTEC controller, that low end cam is being pushed too far in the rev range.

my friends with B16s and B18Cs have a little less of a switchover gain, and they dont have i-VTEC, plus the switchover happens right where the two cams intersect, powerband-wise.

I remember reading once in SCC when they dynoed a Civic Si that they were getting inconsistent dyno readings. As in they would suddenly lose 12 HP. The problem was the air intake temp sensor. When the radiator fan would kick on and blow hot air towards the intake, the ECU would recalibrate and lose power. They eventually put a cardboard barrier between the radiator fans and the intake and got consistent readings. Just a thought for those disgruntled RSX owners.

BTW, just but the DET already!

I guess I should officially tell everyone on this thread that I took the money I was going to use for a N1 tranny and had Andreas use that toward a VE. I also sent a ECU to JWT to have it programmed for a VE. I am on the way. Decision made. Ve it is.

Congrats Steve. Welcome to the dark side. I hope you have better luck with your ECU program than Chuck and I have. Both of us experienced the same lean condition when installing our VE programmed ECU's. I sent my ECU, MAF and an injector back to JWT early last week. Clark checked the flow characteristics and was bold enough to admit he *may* have made a mistake in the programming. I'm hoping he did make a mistake so he knows how to correct the problem. I hope to have the ECU back by Friday and will report the results by the weeks end.

Thanks, I actually thought about going with a Electramotive setup. Don't have an extra 2K sitting around. What redline cutoff did you specify. They tried to get me to go with 7200rpm. Way to low from what I have heard especially if you plan on the sr16 cam in the future.

Kudos to Jim for laying the ground work and being "innovative." You are going to bring the car out to K.C. for next year's National Convention, right? I promise to vote it best Classic... again.
