Slightly better track times

A few weeks ago I went and got some not so good times, best of the night was a 14.8. The following week, I got to pick up some slicks from a forum member, and headed back to the track tonight. I tried a few different launch methods, tire pressure, etc.

The first run of the night was a 14.5@92mph with a 2.0 60' time. An improvement over my many previous 2.3 60' times. Second run, I tried to launch at a higher rpm, that got me a slower 60' time but netted me a 14.4@94. So I decided to launch it back at the original rpm, and this time take my 2 15" wheels, tool box, spare, and jack out of the trunk.

The next 3 runs were all 14.1@94 mph, the fastest being 14.100@94.74 and this was with a 1.888 60' time!

All it takes is some decent tires, a little weight reduction, and lots of practice. I think these are decent times considering I'm 250lbs, and the NX is quite possibly the heaviest B13 ever, I think I did well. If I decide to go crazy and pull out the AC, and little things here and there to lose more weight off the car, its down in 13 second territory. I'll scan and post the time slips when I get to work on Monday if anyone cares to see them.

There its something wrong with your car your trap speeds should be higher at least 98-99 mph even if you were running low 14's and with 1.88 60ft you should ran 13's
thats with your mods the wheigt diference betwen a B13 and a NX its no more than 100lbs so there it no excuses you should check your engine or dyno tune it again thats my opinion

Awesome times Serban. Not bad at all man. Like you said with a little more practice you will get it.

BTW: What size slicks were you using?

remember hes running slicks ***. depending on the size they can dramatically drop your trap speeds.

what size were you running?? and is this the same car making like 200whp?

Slicks drop the speed down, they're 20x6x14. And last time I dynoed the car it put down 185.

As for the suspension, real simple, KYB GR2s, with Ground Controls

Great times my friend. I see you are getting better with practice.

I also see Mr Payu is still being a hater. I guess 450 + pounds less weight in his car, no PS and no AC, his 13 to 1 + compression and quick ratio gear box is not good enough for him.

I see some nice 14.1 times
take out 450 pounds and Serban is running 13.6
add in that 13 to 1 compression and 13.4 is easy.
no PS and AC 13.3
oh and the quick ration gear box will bring you down to 13.1 easy.

What did your run again Payu 13.9 at 98 MPH when you were 450 pounds lighter, 13 to 1 compression when you had the same SER gear box as Serban. What a fast car you got I am stunned by its performance.

Anyway atleast you can drive Serban and not over rev your motor and blow it up at the track.

Good going there, Serban. You did the best thing, which was to experiment and find what works for your car on that day.
Tell us more about tire pressures, etc. Also, more about specific launch RPMs. It can only help. What was your starting point in terms of both these items?
If I were in your shoes (slicks), I'd start launching the car at 4,000rpm after a mild burnout, with about 12psi of air in the tires and adjust from there.
Again...nice to see that you took the time to learn. So many people do not do this and never realize the potential of their car, IMHO.

No, andreas is completely right about his times. Looking at what he has done and the weight of his car, the times are just fine.

Good job, You can't get much better than a 1.8 60ft . But not hating but you tap should be 97-99mph payu is right,Even if the car is heavy it should trap 98-99 mph.Good job anyway it take skills to pull such a good 60ft.

So Payu what mods did you have on your car when you ran 13.9 @ 98 MPH.

If I remember right it was

13 to 1 compression
2050 pound car
header
air filter
JWT ECU
no AC no PS

So now my question to you is, do you think 13.9 @ 98 MPH was impressive. You see if I back track off of your time it seems to me it would not be that fast, just saying.

Your original time is 13.9 @ 98 MPH
if you go down to 10.3 - 1 compression I say 14.1 @ 96 MPH
Let say AC and PS back in car like Serban I say 14. 2 @ 95 MPH
add that 400 pound advatage you got I say 14.6 @ 92 MPH

does not seem to impressive to me. Oh I forgot you like showing off when you have the big advantage. It makes you feel good about yourself.

I am not going to write any more coments because Andreas will take it as me being a hater all I can say is that the trap speeds are too low for the mods on the car there should be a problem on the engine or the tunning of the engine that is a fact Like it or not Period m y coments are for Serban so he can figure out whats wrong with his car because there is a problem for sure...

The car that I am talking about on the other tread runs constant 13.9@98 making 2.2 on 60ft on a full trim B13 stock tranny with a stock VE, pacesetter header 2.5"" exhaust a 3" pvc pipe attached to the maf for a CAI and a ECU tuned by JRios a forum member from PR.

I think Serban's MPH is a tad low but, damn I think the time was dead on. I think he did very damn well. The car moves out nice. The car is heavy, It is in full trim and it has leather interior and Serban is not a lightweight.

Very damn good Serban. That was one hell of a 60 foot time bro.

Let me jump in that mofo. I am a 150 pounds soak and wet.

Now on topic. Do you think 20" slicks were good? Or do you think 22's would have helped hima bit? I am curious as I have a set of 22 inch slicks for my car.

I was just laughing that he said Miko sells dreams. He gives great advice and there are numerous well setup cars in S. FL from him and he says that. I wasnt agreeing with him, just laughing at his comment.

Slicks will bring your MPH down. Spinning street tires will raise a MPH. If Serban ran on street tires, his ET would go up, his MPH would go up (not sure by how much)
