differences between VE and DE

hey there,

I was just wondering what are the differences components-wise between the VE and DE?

Its just that im doing as much research on the VE to decide the usual question of VE vs worked DE.

The reasoning behind this question is that because im in Australia, and say i have to replace a part on my VE, like a dizzy cap or water pump. Usually, with my current DE, i can just ring my local Nissan dealer and order one in. BUT.....

If i have the VE in, i can't really do that can i? haha
or can i?

so, thats basically what i want to know.

If i do have to replace a part on the VE can i use a DE part, or will i have to 'overnite ship it from japan?' haha

cheers

Use the DE dist. and just cut the bottom leg off of it. Its really not an issue. Just transfer everything from the DE onto the VE.

Some of the stuff are different. It has more in common with the low port DE than the high port though.

It would be great if there was a sticky listing the identical and the interchangeble and the recommended parts in the VE.

the most closely resembling motor to the de is the rr motor found in the newer g20's and primeras. things like the water pump, dizzy, idle control valve and other miselaneous parts on that motor are the same found on the ve. i would be more concerned of a water pump going bad than any other thing... but the water pump from any year fwd sr20 will work. the ve's block is mainly a rr block, just with a few extra holes. so if anything were to really go wrong.. you would be able to find rr motor fairly easy and make it work, or use the some of the internal parts.
