My SR16VE story..

So i just picked up a 200sx with an sr16ve in it for SUPER cheap.. i paid 1000., for it, and the person i got it from thought it had a bad mount.

the car is a 95 200sx. SE.

the motor ran, but only went into 1st and 3rd gear... so we towed it home, and i looked at it the next day.

the rear mount is supposed to bolt to the block and tranny with 4 bolts.. there were only 2 in it, and they had sheared off..

1 of the bolts was too long, and it was bottomed out, so it was a PITA to get out.. the other came out with ease..

got it all put back together, and what do ya know.. all 6 gears again!!!! (counting reverse)

so i take it for a drive, and the front right wheel is making all sorts of noise.

so i take it to les schwab, and have them look at it, and they tell me both front wheel bearings are toast.. as well as the right controll arm, and the right hub.

so the car is staying in the shop.. but i also noticed the brake booster is toast as well.. so hopefuly after tomororw, i have a perfect running VE..

not bad for the 1700 ill have into it!!!!!!

also has lowering springs, crapper wheels, and an intake..

but i need a header for it as well..

will a standard sr20de header work for it?

i want a better intake, header, exhuast, and high flow cat.. and see where she sits.. then *** go B16 killing.. a friend of ours, always says how nissan hasnt done well with NA motors..
he will think that when he is looking at my tail lights..

what you guys think that will put down for power?

and i have seen a few guys saygo with 3" exhuast.. even for NA? on a little 1.6L???

if it will yeild morep ower, ill do it.. but not sure how that would sound/.
thanks fellas

Well, before someone says use the search feature....dont go 3" go 2.5" on the 1.6. Dont get an sr20de header for it because the ports overlap and dont line up. Get a sr20ve header from hotshot or fujitsubo. Get either a warm air, or cai with a jwt pop charger attached to it. Also, u may want to ask the guy want type of ecu he has in there and who programmed it.

So the former owner knew enough to buy a VE but couldn't fix those simple things that were wrong with it? You are one lucky dude.

It you are going to stick with the 1.6 bottom end then a 2.5" should be fine. The SSAC header will also be fine if you port match it.

I agree, I meant to say the SSAC not the OBX, just dont waste your money on the hotshot.

Sounds like the origional owner knew nothing about cars. I like how u put that NismoNX2000, "warm air intake". I have never heard someone say that, but it is true. SO the engine sounds fine? I would doubel check jsut becasue the origional owner didn't know much

go with the ssac header-- best bang for your buck and the ports won't overlap-- definitely not 3" for 1.6. 2.5" might even be pushing it.

I have an sr16ve ecu if you need it $160 shipped... You'll need an obdI/obdII adaptor for it though. But still much cheaper than Jim wolf ecu $550-$600. If he's running stock ecu you definitely should get a better ecu.

Yes sir, 95's are obdII. An adapter would be my guess also.
