FINALLY purchasing a VE next month

Well, after three years of being broke due to student loans, I finally will have the funds for a VE within the month. It will come with the ve maf, harness, ecu so I will make an obdII>obdI adapter to run the ecu and later get a JWT ecu if they ever get finished with their cams.

I would like everyone's opinion on what to change/replace (if anything) before I put the motor in?

What kind of ECU are you going to use that you have to make an obd1 to obd2 adapter? I'd just run the stock DE injectors, ecu and maf, then just save up for the jwt, and swp out injectors and maf.

Do motor mount inserts while the engine is out.

poly steering rack bushings, water pump, crank oil seals, motor mounts(prothanes are cheap..), and route the cam actuator wires into the loom for a nice clean look- rather than putting them in after everything else and having it look like it was an afterthought..(not like I did that...) and then also replace anything that looks worn or damaged like belts, P/S hoses, coolant hoses, clutch cable, basically anything that is a pita to get to- unless you love ripping things apart three or four times. ( clutch too, but I assume you are installing new/known good unit)

I am using the SSAC header and I did port match it to the VE gasket- I also cleaned up(made it go away) the inside of the egr bung that hangs into the path of the exhaust...

Serban, I was thinking about using Calum's daughterboard but he never gets on here anymore so that's not very reliable. That's why I would need the adapter.

Anyway, I think I will go with your suggestion. I'll just use the g20 ecu I already have so at least I will have a few hundred more rpms to work with.

Thanks, I'll look into your suggestions. I'll be installing a jwt pp and 01 disc also. I'll have to check my ssauto header when I get the motor to make sure if I need to port match or not. I will also be eliminating the egr b.s.

If you wait towards the end of the month, Calum should have a fine-tuned program for the VE - one equipped w/ 3" exhaust, Fuji, & POP. Notice my sig....
