Rollered my car: Stock sr20ve with ve maf, ve injectors, and jwt ecu programmed for them. My timing is at 15 deg. I believe ngk 6's for plugs.
High speed test 2096 rpm
maximum, measured
hc 141 hc 110
co 0.79 co 0.19
nox 1026 nox 2155
Low speed test 1803 rpm
maximum, measured
hc 146 hc 189
co 0.82 co .80
nox 1134 nox 3774
It passed last year by half the maximum, it was with a de and all emissions equiptment installed, new cat, all new sensors. Ive put less than 5 thousand miles on it since last inspection. It has higher nox readings than when I tested my de with no egr! Any thoughts before I go back. Obviously the timing can be brought down but I don't think it will help enough.
AZ emissions are roller, tough to pass. This may help you, it helped me. Afpr, restrictor plate behind cat to keep it hot. 1.5" diameter hole on plate. Reduced timing to 10-12 deg. With the afpr, take your car to a place that can do emissions tuning to get your numbers down w/ adjusting your pressure. I have a Fuji, flo-thru cat, 2.5 mandrel exhaust. What exhaust mods do you have? If it's somewhat similar these tips may work. I also d/c the solenoids to keep the low cams on through the test. Good luck, Andreas will have far more info on how to beat the rollers for sure.....
I failed the low speed for HC's and NOx, passsed every thing else! On the second test(yesturday) I raised timing to 14 and fuel pressure to 38 with hose on. I failed for the same things, HC's went up ten and NOx went up 200. Everything else was almost identicle to the first test. I haven't tried any fuel additives nor a restrictor behind the cat. I attribute the dramatic lowering of NOx levels to the Digital 6. I seem to have a slight dead spot between 2 and 3k rpm with a rattle that may or may not be knock. If I back off the throttle it goes away. Anyone able to decipher these results? Thanks!
The problem with that is the state sent me a notice about it failing. Someone handing me a sticker is not going to work. Its vin number has to be entered in then pass on the rollers. Doesn't need to be "my" car passing. I would drive to Dallas to get it "passed".
So much for the VE having better emissions than the DE! I passed the emission tests with C2s and my cutout open lol. Maybe you should get a set of cam gears to reduce the overlap, sure it will drop your power but the car might pass though.

get a small cat if you get one. 2 inch or 2 1/4. A 3 inch will take longer to heat up. Did you have any luck finding a 2001 se cat. This cat is right at the head. The emission content should be lower.

This man is right on point.
If you get a 2001 header with cat and run a standard nissan cat down on the bottom you should pass with no problems.
