with 0 overlap at normal drivng load , an not looking much different than a normal sr the big problem is the egr but it doesn't need one it runs clean like a VTEC(no egr).

We don't have anywhere near as stringent emission testing for older cars in the UK,though it's getting tougher on new cars.I've got an Ecotek valve fitted to mine which basically creates a controllable air leak off the inlet manifold and leans the mixture out as much as I want.At my last MOT(An annual test of cars road worthiness)my CO level was about 8% because my car is decatted. When I adjusted the valve(by opening it),watching the readings on the diagnostic machine I got it down to decimal places! When the test was done,I closed it again.

Does this Ecotek thing do any good for mpg or performance on a U.K. Primera? Their website claims miracles, but there are a lot of testimonials from reputable magazines that seem to substantiate their claims.

SteveB,it doesn't on mine as unbeknown to me when I bought it,they don't work on turbo cars. When the car comes on boost,it closes the valve, stopping it working. It works at idle though as there is no boost.

I've just found an unbiased site that used the Ecotek on an SR20DE Primera at http://www.primeraweb.co.uk/
It's no good for our motor it seems.
