ve swap info

Hey guys, I just had a brain fart and was wondering about the sr20ve. I am trying to decide between nitrous on my de or just get a ve.. I really dont know anything about the ve and was wondering about the cost/availibility, ease of install( will stock wireing harness work? does the tranny bolt up?) and useful info you could give me would be much appreciated.. I am basically wondering the total cost and how much of a pain in the ass it would be to have a ve llightly modded swapped into my slow se-r. thanks for all your help

It almost is plug and play. It bolts right in all you have to do is get an ECU programed for the injectors and MAF, wire two solenoids and a couple of harnesses. Not that difficult at all.

Okay so it's not as easy to swap into a B14 as I thought. Mine is almost 100% in and should start tommorow.

Can anyone tell me what year Sentra has the same distributor as the VE ? Mine is broken and I need to buy a new one tommorow. Someone mentioned before a 2000 Sentra but model?

Thanks!!

I am so close to buying a VE for my B14. Is the swap that complicated?

A couple of plugs are different that you need to cut and rewire. The distributor and wire is also different so you need to cut and rewire those 8 wires also.

Bigtom just told me it is possible to convert the DE distributor to the VE without rewiring bu changing the caps. I am going to try that tommorow and see if it works.

I am documenting the entire process and after I get it working I am going to post en entire how-to swap a VE on my website.

So if the swap is supposed to be pretty easy for you guys, I'm sure it would be just as easy for me right?? That way I can get the SR16VE and still say I have a 1.6l

Not to sound rude but how the hell do we know. You could be a monkey mechanic with a box of pliers or a seasoned professional intimately familiar with motor swaps of this kind. Only *you* can answer this question.

I meant for the car, not me personally. As in, I'll probably need exactly the same parts and all that since our car's are identical except for the engine and transmission (and some trim inside and out) from the factory. I couldn't put it in myself anyway, I live in an apartment right now, my tools consist of some screwdrivers, a hammer, and a wrench I got at the dollar store. I can't do anything other than the basic bolt ons I have seeing as how I don't have the means.

Sorry bout that. I'm not familiar with the XE but I suspect it shouldn't pose much of a problem. It is afterall a B13 chassis.

What about the JWT ECU, I need to find one from a b13 SE-R anyways if I want a reprogrammed ECU, wouldn't that work?

im not sure about how everything else wires up. if you could find an se-r gauge cluster and the sort, you should be alright. i left off motor mounts, too.
