12 Seconds All Motor (Need Serious Help)

Well, I want a seriously fast car, and was considering a BB swap, but not sure on the SCCA rules about this. What are Club Racing rules on swaps and stuff in the IT class? Also, what could be done to make a SR20DE a RELIABLE 12 second motor in my SE-R? A friend of mine told me Z32 pistons could be used. Next, what are the specs on a VE? Do these motors produce the kind of torque a DE does? I heard that VE is just like VTEC, but is the torque there? How much does a typical VE swap run? Just sick of being able to beat SS's and blown GT's in turns, but being beat in the straights. Thanks.

12 seconds won't happen realistically with a DE. You can possibly make it happen, fairly easily, with a VE. You will most likely have to do some lightening/gutting of your ride. Read the posts in the is forum, many of your questions have already been answered. Once you read it all twice, then post your questions on the VE.

There is no Swaps allowed in IT classes. The most you can overbore is .040 .
I don't know if that is big enough to fit the Z32 pistons under the rules. The max raise in compression is .5
If you are serious about IT your best bet is to buy the rulebook.

You can only expect around 160whp at the MAX from a legal IT Sentra (this is with a Sunbelt engine, IT=no cams, so this i a fair amount of power). Plus the car has to weigh 2450 with driver(sentra)/2490(NX) so don't think you will make 12's with an IT legal car.

You can fit Non Turbo Z32's into a SR20 Block meny have done this. with all bolt on's and cam's you can hit about 170 WHP with a pritty much stock VE motor you hit about 175 WHP. Now you can take the 2.0 VE and swap a SR16VE (N1) Head on it and with some good bolt ons you should get around 200 WHP..
