friend of a new VE owner

hey guys.......i hate to ask a noob question and i probably deserve to be flamed, but i couldnt find it.

do we use the VE ecu?
can we use the harness it came with, or is it easier to rewire the stock harness?

this is on a 94 SER

thanks! (please, be gentle)

I suppose you could use the VE ecu, but that thing is heavily tuned for the CVT transmission.

You are much better off getting a JWT ecu or a Calum daughterboard (not sure if the 94 lowport was on OBD I or II). You can only use the Calum daughterboard on OBD I B13 ecus.

You might even be better off using your stock Sentra ECU than your VE ecu... But then you need something to activate VVL (summit switch, greddy mss etc)

if you are going to run a ve ecu, use the sr16ve ecu, way better than the sr20ve ecu.

on a ve setup, i strongly advise against a jwt ecu(many reasons why) Best bet is using the stock ecu with an safc or do what i did and use a calum ecu(best bang for the buck "plug and play" ecu IMO)

The sr20ve will work just fine if that's what you have and need it running. Just remember to use matching injectors and maf.

welcome to the vvl club. if your de stuff was working fine before the swap you should use it. includes maf/tb and ecu. advance the timing to at least 20*to start with. keep the ve injectors and tune on a dyno with afpr.

the 94 se-r was still obdI they did not switch to obdII until the 95 model year. I have a stock sr20ve ecu in my ve car. it runs fine but I am sure there are better options for power. I just have not gotten around to making changes yet.
