SR20VE Rev Limit

So I know the SR20VE stock rev limiter is at like 7995, and Calum programs his SR20VE tune to limit at 8200...

When does valve float start with stock internals?
Where can you safely set the rev limiter?

I know power drops off in the 7000 range, but it's nice to know for future reference.

With the stock rev limiter on the SR20VE the ecu rev limit is 7200. The stock rev limiter for the SR16VE w/ ecu is 8200. When I hooked up my SR20VE ecu the revs never went past 7200. My JWT VE ecu has the rev limit set at 7500. Both SR16 and SR20 VEs have the same springs, just different profiles on the high and low side of their cams. If you were going to put either SR16 cams in or cams with a more aggressive profile, 8-8200 rpms would be my limit. Max power on the SR16 cams comes around 7500 and anything above that valve float may be a problem. Stock SR20VE cams for some have the Calum ecu set at 8.2K. Go 7.5K if you want to play it safe.
