Is the Nissan OEM oil filter for SR16VE used on any other engines in the USA ?

From reading around the forums here briefly I see where some people are doing SR16VE swaps. What im trying to find out is if there are any other Nissan engines that use the same oil filter as the SR16VE ?

Example: My 97 Maxima Nissan OEM oil filter for the VQ30DE is also used on the KA24DE, VG33E, and VQ20DE.

My main objective is to save money. A Nissan OEM oil filter in NZ is roughly 30 dollars, and in my situation with my parents in the states, its nothing to drop a few in boxes that come my way, and I can almost buy 5 for the price of 1 here!

SR16VE Nissan OEM Oil Filter Part Numbers:

(PT# 15208-65F00):
other: 15208-9F600, 15208-31400

It could be that these are JDM part numbers and wont make much sense in the states but thought it would be worth a shot to see what I can find out.

thanks
c

As has been said only the low port de. There is 2 types one looks flat on the open side. This won't fit a ve it must be the concave type.

All USDM Nissans up to 2005 that use 65F00 Filters

03-04 Xterra V6
00-02 1.8L ULEV sentra
98-01 2.0L Sentra
04+ Quest
01-04 Pathfinder
03+ Murano
01+ Maxima
05+ 2.5L Frontier
02+ 3.5L Altima
03+ 350Z
95-98 2.0L 200SX

Edit: All other CURRENT production models use a 9E000, which has the same thread and o-ring size as a 65F00, but is a little deeper.

most other '90's models either used a 9E000 or a 55Y00, except the Highport SR20DE, which uses the 53J00.

Edit 2: Prefix for all Nissan Genuine oil filers is 15028-

so it would be a pretty safe bet that the Nissan 15208-65F00
or 15208-9F600 would do the job ? Courtesy Parts is saying the 65F00 is now being replaced with the 9F600. After reading around some today people are saying Nissan is or has gone with a more one size fits all kinda thing ?

To much information really on the web 1,000 people say Nissan OEM are now crap filters, and 1,001 more are saying they will never use anything but Nissan OEM ?

I guess for me I will stick with the Nissan OEM, almost 9 years of using Nissan OEM and the Maxima's VQ30DE is still running strong !

stick with OEM. the ones who say OEM filters are crap are the ones who end up with long-term problems because they used FRAM filters. Napa Gold filters arent bad, though.

I havent heard of the 9F6, i'll check tomorow. im sure nissan probably IS trying to go to a "one size fits all" filter, to keep costs down. the 65F and the 9E are similar enough to use 9E's on 65F spec'd engines, so its an easy move.

I had a few filters at home, just used the last of them. I'll be using veruspeed from now on since they're highly recommended and aren't that much more than a standard filter. I'm not sure of the part number yet though.

Have your parents buy you 5 filters from courtesy parts for like $5 bucks each for the 95-99 b14 200sx se-r filter. THat is the filter that i use on my sr16ve and it works great. www.courtesyparts.com

You can source the Veruspeed filters here for the VE and here for the early 90's thread/shape oil filter.
