I have done some research and have found a forged Eagle rod that with a little modification can be used in the SR16VE engine. It is out of a ‘95+ Chevy Cavalier Z24 with an LD9 2.4L Quad Four. Part number is CRS5710C3D, the bolts are now 3/8” ARP which should be plenty strong. These are going into my SR16VE race engine.
This is not a direct bolt in, but is very close. The crank journal diameter is slightly smaller on the Nissan, but the tolerance range on the journal overlaps between manufacturers. Clevite bearings are available in .001”, .002” & .003” undersize for the Chevy, so with a little amount of polishing, selecting the bearing size for proper fit to the Nissan crank will not be a problem.
The Big end is .010” wider on the Chevy rod, so it will need to be narrowed .005” on each side to fit the Nissan crankshaft. The small end is exactly the right size for the wrist pin so no change is needed there.
The Chevy rods are .003” longer from center to center. This can be taken up in head gasket selection or if you are having custom pistons made the pin height can be adjusted if you really feel you need to do so.
I don't know if anyone is building a full on SR16, but these rods will sure help keep it together.
