So i have gotten the impression that the ecu/wiring can be a pain for the sr20ve and you cant use the stock one because its only mated to an automatic transmission in Japan. But what about the sr16ve? Isnt that from the pulsar which has a 5-speed? So couldnt you just use the stock ECU from the sr16 and not have to worry about solenoid controllers and fuel maps that were intended for a different motor. Does the sr16 that andreas is selling come with the ECU?

Good question. But, how would the auto tranny affect the ECU's use with a man. trans.? There are quite a few people using a G20 auto ECU in their >98 B14s.
I could see how the opposite might be true, trying to use a man. Tran. ECU with an auto.
Its a great big mystery......to me.

I think it has more to do with the tuning of the ecu on the sr16ve being for higher-octane gas then we get in the good old USA. Also, even if the stock ecu will work you are limited in future upgrades because JWT will not program that ecu. I am not sure but that seems be the most logical explanation. On a turbo this is not as big of a concern because turning the boost down effectively lowers the compression of the engine. My 2cents.
