At long last, pics of Eads' VE

No sound vids of the racket this thing makes, but here's a few pics - after 8 months-
My kid operates a small commercial wireless ISP up in Richmond (richmondair.com); these are on a hosting site he glued together. These are cut back with photoshop to 640x480 from 2272x1704 so they shouldn't hang people up. First time I've done pics, HOPEFULLY when this posts this'll just be links and not transferred in pics so I don't force you guys with dialup to come back to see this after you go to work.

Edit: It occurs to me with all the thanx I put in to folks below, not once did I mention Matt and this forum - without which I can't imagine I could have done this thing; learning from this forum has been like going after another degree but a LOT more fun. Thanx to all of you who make this place happen.

This is just the car - Thanx to Melissa's tutelage, it shines up pretty well, *** the paint is far from perfect, and plenty of parking dings.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=82

Rear view - you can just see the 3" poking its nose out - no chrome - just an oval Magnaflow 3" both ends, painted black.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=91

Exhaust a bit more obvious
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=88

For Melissa - (this is cheating; new hood with fresh paint and clearcoat)
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=109

AD22VF's with 16x7 37mm offset OZ's and 205/40 BS RE950's. Decent for a 30k street tire but pretty (okay, very) slippery for ax.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=66

ENDLESS posts on how to screw up headliners. This is how it's done right (Let a good ol' boy 30 year upholstery guru do it). See signature.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=106

Gauges. My gawd this takes a lot of wire and conduit. Wish I could have found something prettier to house the oil press on the column, but it's where you put it - right in front of your eyes. Visually it's right between the tach and speedo, no interference.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=115

This is how you shut up the racket of shortened (don't do this, not enough travel, but it sure looks good ) Hypercos (THANKS Chris (Chriscar)) in the AGX seat. Plain old heater hose. I don't get credit for the idea, some genius on the forum thought it up. THANK YOU if you see this. Somebody thought pickup bed liner paint would quiet them, which is what's on the spring. The thin rubber Nissan spring seat is tossed.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=112

Okay okay okay. Here's the motor. THANK YOU Dre. I cried when I wrapped (Summit) that gorgeous stainless Fuji, but it is absolutely wonderful stuff, & my AC compressor overheat sensor shuts it off no more. It's darn near cold in there. Also hence no CAI. Dre called me up last February and says - "Just got one with 7500 miles on it - want it??" - does a bear etc. -- the plugs looked like they'd been fired once. The guy spend HOURS on the fone with me MAKING SURE everything went all right. No secret why those of us who work with him go to bat for him.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=100

Another shot. Yes, every lead is in conduit. No exceptions. The remote oil press sender is mounted just in front of the mc and just behind the Pathfinder MAF. Stainless down to the Nissport adapter.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=97

A better shot of the battery (THANKS Serban), the Digital 6+ (THANKS Teal97), the 8207 coil and the single 8969 tucked under the fender lip. I used Serb's ittybitty battery to get SOMEWHERE to cram the ignition (mainly for the rev limiter but many other benefits), and I did NOT want to remote the battery. So far, it's been flawless.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=118

This is the Apexi valve right in front of the resonator and behind the cat. Open; you see the slight bit of slack left in the line. Yes, cable is in conduit all the way through the firewall. I HATE redoing things. Screw holding the butterfly on the shaft came loose in two weeks. TG it's a 3" and that I have really small hands. And a helluva junk screw box. With loctite it's still in there.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=70

Here's the cable pull, in full closed position. It's positioned so it's a very easy reach when the seat's where I set it, and clears the seat so it doesn't rub a hole in the upholstery. It is NOT spring loaded, so you MUST remember to open the damned thing when you get on it. Sigh.
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=76

The tail of the Fuji, one of the Progress bars (THANKS Rob (Toolapcfan)), and the perfect fit 3" mandrel Magnaflow system (THANK YOU DANIEL AND VRS).
http://photo.angrylabs.com/main.php?g2_itemId=103

Guess that'll do. Thanx again to Dre, Milburn, Ron and my wizard kid Chris (got bored with being a benz tech so now runs wireless ISP) for ALL the help. It's a bitch doing this on a carport in the winter.

YES, it passed the dreaded Atlanta smog test. Without the EGR.

Moderators, sorry if this is too much; just toss it or move it as you see fit.

Looks fantastic! Glad I could be of help. (I want to see direct sunlight shots though, that's the real test for paint swirls ).

Yup, worried about that too in placement; Milburn (formerly coolblackser, now with Evo) set me up in his lab shop to build that aluminum alloy mount for the d6+ (both are supposed to be waterproof but I wasn't happy about placing the dials face up); it's placed where it is precisely for it to shield the D6+ and the 8207. Took a look after several downpour drives; dry as a bone. Wonder if I should build a plastic shield to go over the dials.
Melissa, tried to do shots in full sunlight and only got glare, which did a GREAT job of hiding the swirls - - - - :-)

Nice car.

Question, My 96 se-r came with the black hose all over it. Why would anyone want it? Is it for looks or does it serve a purpose?

Thanx Joji (HAH - got it right)
Yup, did the Fuji on the dining room floor (Mary Lynn is getting used to it) straight out of the box before it went on. But I suspect you could do it with it on the car, altho I wouldn't choose to do it that way (PITA).
AH - The conduit protects whatever's inside it from heat and abrasion from rubbing up against stuff. Everywhere I ran a wire. LOTS of wire for the gauges. Some folks unwrap the original wiring loom conduit and put new wire in that, but I was just too lazy.

Thx Serb.

ONE of these days I'll get somebody to cut off the muff and reweld. It's the one vrs 'miss.' - muff and one of the tp sections are welded together, and they fall in there perfectly to the tp piece with the S bend and to the hangers. One of those bazillion detail pieces that I just haven't gotten to, as it also takes re-positioning the hangers.

Dre'll call up every now and then and say things like "CAMS" or "8CW CRANK" or "VALVE SPRINGS" etc. - Of course he takes these things apart in his sleep - - - I keep asking him to move up here, but no luck so far :-).

Hey Ric - Been thinking about taking up a collection or doing a bake sale to do dyno proceeds - I figure about 5 different modifications in a fully counterbalanced experimental design - That should be 125 runs - - - - :-) After that I'd guess I'd need to ask Dre for another motor - - - -
