have a friend who built one with his kid, it was 2.5" open all the way back; it was NOT livable - apparently even normal driving was just over the top. "Earsplitting" he called it. On my 3" I have a cat, resonator and muff and it's, um, quite noticeable at full tilt.

A turbo is QUIET compared to a VE on the second song - OR, as they say, you ain't heard nuthin' yet. (Reason is the pump impeller beats up the exhaust note - the VE high cam has HUGE duration and overlap because it doesn't have to compromise for low speed)

Not if you set up right the cutout won't help much, if you're serious, 3", Magnaflow "high flow", mandrel bends; stick some sort of Apexi "silencer" in there either like I did (see my pic post) in this VE section) or (better, I think) in the tailpipe to shut the thing up when you get tired of the racket :-).

I've got a QTEC electric cutout, I havent compared it on the dyno, but from the seat of my pants I can feel the difference with it open.
