I've been trying to get a VE head swap set up for my B15 for a few months now. We've just had some stuff come up that's sucked the money right out of me. (Some of that involved paying off a credit card though. Yay!)
Things should be settling down a bit now, and my wife and mom are wondering what to get me for Christmas/Aniversary/Birthday. (I got married last year on Dec. 27, and my Birthday is Feb 1.) I'm hoping that I can start buying stuff now, (or direct them to buy stuff for me...

)
Here's some background really quick though. I'm a computer programmer and I'm not afraid to get down and dirty with my soldering iron. I've modded some XBoxes, created a AUX IN for my Kenwood Deck from scratch, and a couple of other odd jobs. I don't know a lot about EE, but I'm pretty comfortable with computers.
Anyway... my origional plan was to get a JWT programmed ECU and just use that. I've been looking at eManage though and I have some questions for people that already use it.
1. I keep reading that my stock ECU (from a 2000 Sentra SE) will override any tuning changes that I make within a month? Those of you that have these, do you need to get them tuned every month? If so, JWT may be a better solution.
2. On
this page the eManage blue appears to be able to control VTEC switch points. Is anybody using this for VVL switch points, or is a seperate computer required for that?
3. If I got the eManage blue first while I save up for the head, would it be any use on my current SR20DE? (I've only got a header and CAI.)
4. Is a wideband or dyno needed to do any tuning at all, or could I fine tune some things fairly well with just the sensors in the car already? (Just so you know already, I plan on tuning with a dyno once I get the head, and possibly just buying a wideband anyway. I'm just wondering if there are features I can use in the meantime without the dyno or wideband.)
I've tried searching a little in the VVL forum, but it looks like it just got cleaned out. The articles that came up helped answer some of my questions, but these came out unanswered.
Thanks in advance.
