can vtec controller be used?

U hear many people on here using either the stock vvl ecu or the MSD window switch to activate VVL on either or both cams. VVL seems to operate exactly the same way as Vtec and should be able to be grounded and +input to active at a deired RPM.

Anyone running one of these like vafc, boxer ect?

thanks!

Pete

A VAFC could only control 1 of the cam switches. That is unless you wanted to switch both cams at once, which I think has been proven for less hp than switching at different RPM points.

Just run an MSD switch box, it would be cheaper anyways.

vafc's use the map sensor to modify the signal, so you wont be able to modify your a/f mixture because Nissan uses a MAF.

I would say get a Apexi NEO AFC becuase it does both MAF and MAP and controls VVL

NO i think you guys are missing the point, i can wire it up to control both at the same time, and Yes it will control fuel, as i had one on my sr20det rwd to used the z/maxima mafs.

I was asking if it CAN be used to control them? I believe it can, just wondering who is here and how they like it? I have a powerfc to control fuel and ignition maps., but is deesigned for det(no vvl) so would get a separate controller for it, unless its useless as peak power is made at xx rpm to active the vvl colunoids?

I do not believe anyone is using an Apexi product to control VVL.

And you answered your own question in your own post above.

i has installed a VAFC in a VVl engine ,

i connected the MAF signal in the MAP input and work properly

the one problem is that TPS signal some times take it 0% .

i used the VAFC for to control a Intake open and exh with the ECU,

Don't the maf and map sensors work off different voltages? So how did you make it work?
