exhaust cut out

what does everyone think of these electric cut outs? seeing as how im in CA and cops here are pretty crazy about noise, i cant go with a full 3" cat back since the car is my DD and i need to keep the attention low. So i was thinking of cutting the SSAC secondary and making it 3" and running it to the 2.5" catback i currently have. With that, i was thinking of placing the cut out on the SSAC 3" section for track days, etc

what is everyones thoughts on this?

sounds like a good idea, or you can just put the 3 inch exhaust, and add a high flow cat or res for the noise.

I have a brand new 3" electric cutout that I never got to use on my VE before I sold it. I would go $150 shipped on it if anyone is interested.

why not add a resonator to the DP after the flexpipe, then the cat, then add another resonator, this will quiet the car alot. This is what I plan on doing to mine

considering the price of what it would cost to go with a VRS cat back in 3", buying a high flow cat, and a decent resonator..its much more cost effective to keep the current setup i have and use the cut out for drag applications, etc.

the mechanical cut outs are roughly 70$ from summit.

I had a qtec, and it leaked, even when fully closed. Its also tough finding a place to put it without scraping the thing. I had one on my car, and I raised the car up higher than stock probably on Ground Controls...yet I'd still scrape that thing. However, I placed it where the cat normally sits, maybe you can have better luck placing it on the downpipe somewhere.

^^^I have mine in the middle of my test pipe with the bottom of the car slightly banged with a bigass hammer to make it sit somewhat up in there. It is still the lowest part of my car also and scrapes at times.

iLlEsT RicE: Don't bother with a mechanical one, they will leak even worse then a Qtec will. You spend $150 on a Qtec and trust me you will be happy you bought it.

The one from www.badlanzhpe.com is nice in my opinion, you can get the upgrade motor too which is stronger and will last longer.
