VE head oil feed...

I've been reading the VE head swap threads and noticed in almost all cases the swap has been done with the engine out of the car. One of the main reasons seems to be access problems to the rear of the engine to connect up the oil feed for the cam switches.

It struck me that containing the oil feed within the head would simplfy things. The main oil feed into the head seems to be an obvious place to tap into. A solid pipe could be run across the back of the head into the cam switch oil feed.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?
Anyone tried it?

i dont think that people do the swap outside of the car because of that... most head swaps are done outside of the car especailly since you take off the front cover 90% of the time...

besides its not that hard to get to the oil feed.. its the same spot thats used for turbo and most de+t owners dont take the mtotor out to get that done

just my thoughts

I have a question about tapping and doing a DEV setup.

If you have a Ve head with a DE buttom (de oil pump) will there or can there be a issue with oil pressure. From what ive been hering the VE oil pumps more than 100psi of oil. the de pumps around 80 or so. If ve needs more oil pressure for the vtec, and if someone does a DEV, do they need to change the oil pump? ALso, what size fittings / StainlessStell lines are recommended. Thanks

The answer to all your questions lay in your neighbors driveway.

Hey Stracyznski I wish i could give you a definitive answer but i can't.
To me logic says its perfectly feasable but until i get my head i have no idea.
I'm interested to know as well though, so hopefully someone will chime in soon and let us know.

Cheers
Nick
