VE QUESTIONS

i've seen on the net that some ve's have different valve cover colors like red and blue and they are the 20VE's...*** wondering if theres any difference...

also if the engine was once an AUTO..will it work with a manual...

which would be better and most easiest way to activate VVL solenoids...

what is IACV and AAC...

will standard b13 clutches work..

Have you read through the technical library for the VE (it's located at the top of this section. It should answer all your questions. Also, think of the swap to an SR20VE the same as swapping SR20DE motors with a few minor electrical and hose connections.

definitely read all you can before doing anything. I'll try to answer your questions though.
The red top is the SR16VE N1
The blue top is the SR16VE non N1
The black top is the SR20VE
There is also the 20V and VET, but that's a different story.
A motor that was auto can be used in a manual by just swapping the flywheel in for a flexplate.
Use either a JWT ECU, Calumsult or Greddy MSS to activate the solenoids.
IACV is the piece bolted directly onto the manifold, and is necessary. The AAC is the piece in the backside of the manifold with 2 hoses attached. It would be nice to have, but not totally necessary (at least in Cali).
Std clutches work fine.

Greg, not sure JWT modified DE ecu's switch solenoids - leastways that wasn't an option when I did mine; I used the MSD 8969. Methinks the JWT modified ecu is just remapped for the ve. Standard pressure plate likely a good idea, especially if the clutch cable brace to the back of the block isn't reinforced.

AAC and IACV are on the same part, on the front of the intake manifold. The part on the underside is the FICD.

Dunno if you meant that as a question, but yes, the 8969 is digital; changing the switch point is nothing more than a button push. You need two of 'em if you're going to switch the cams separately; Dre suggested with stock cams and my setup just turn 'em together at 4600. Here:

It's the little box sitting under the fender lip to the right of the pop charger.
OH - did you mean the jwt nitrous module is nothing more than an 8969?

Ah. They're bulletproof; if the guy needs one and your price is right that would be the place to get it. :-)

that all depends on what ecu you plan on running. you can use your stock maf/injectors along with your stock ecu if you want. other wise you will get a ecu programed for whatever maf you plan on running.
